Maria De Sanctis is a young Canadian director, born and raised in Toronto. Having an artistic eye from a young age, she dabbled in several areas of the arts, eventually finding her home in film.

She received her BFA with Honours from York University's Film Production program. In December 2015, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) listed Maria's undergraduate thesis film, "Cupid," as one of the Top Ten student films of that year.

In January 2016, Maria began her MFA in Film and Television Production at USC's School of Cinematic Arts. At USC, Maria directed several short films, was one of nine students selected to co-direct her first feature film, and completed her biggest directorial project yet with her thesis film "Father by Law."

Upon graduation from USC, Maria has continued to develop her voice as a director, aiming to inspire and be inspired. Maria always tries to put herself into the characters and emotion of any story she tells. She loves films that are personal and come from the heart, which pushes her to try and reciprocate that for someone else when she is creating. Her childhood, friends, and family define much of who she is and the work she makes, giving a voice to herself as a filmmaker and the wonderful people in her life.
